Meet our Pastor
Pastor Wm. Alex Guidry
Pastor Wm. Alex Guidry, a native of California, first moved to New Jersey in 1970 where he attended Westminster Choir College in Princeton, NJ. Pastor Guidry accepted the Lord as his personal savior, soon afterward acknowledging the call to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Pastor Guidry was ordained an Elder of the Church Of God In Christ in 1986 by the late Bishop Esau Courtney Sr.
For more than 30 years, Pastor Guidry has served the people of God in various capacities on a National, Jurisdictional, and local level, including 10 years as a Minister of Music at Bethany Baptist Church in Lindenwold, NJ. During his time at Bethany, Pastor Guidry produced five choir CD projects including a solo project, co-produced alongside his wife Gwen, to whom he was married on August 28, 1982.
Pastor Guidry held his first pastoral assignment in 2004 at In His Service COGIC of San Bernardino, CA. In January 2010, after the passing of his mother, Mother Marian Guidry, Pastor and Lady Gwen Guidry returned to New Jersey and become the primary care provider and companion to his 98 year old father, Bishop Curley Guidry Sr. (Pastor Guidry refers to this period as his “Elisha Moment”, because the next two years would become a turning point in his life and ministry.)
In January 2011, Bishop Guidry appointed Pastor Guidry to succeed Supt. John Holloway as pastor of Healing Wings Pentecostal Temple II in Pennsgrove, NJ. As God would have it, 14 months later Bishop Guidry would be called from labor to reward and Pastor Guidry would succeed his father as Pastor of Healing Wings Pentecostal Temple of Glassboro, NJ.
Pastor Guidry’s vision to continue the legacy of his father, and the 90 plus year history that Healing Wings ministry has in the community of Glassboro, inspired the organization of the Glassboro Community Development Corporation (CDC) in January 2015. Since the formation of the CDC, partnerships with Cisco Networking and OIC America are in the developmental stages in an effort to provide educational and career opportunities in technology, childcare, and other areas of vocational training. These recent partnerships are an extension to the ongoing relationships that Healing Wings has with Rowan University through its Federal Work Study Program, the State of New Jersey Workforce Investment Board 55+ Program, and the Gloucester County Work Experience Program.
Currently, Healing Wings Pentecostal Temple COGIC employs a corestaff, who are responsible for the successful operation of Healing Wings Church, Glassboro CDC, and making the church accessible to those in need of spiritual guidance and personal attention.
